Card 1 out of a set of 6. This card features a scene from the fable of the Oyster and the Litigants. The card reads, "Deux pelerins rencontrent une huitre sure le sable" (Two pilgrims meet an oyster on the sand).

Card 2 from set of 6. This card depicts a scene from the fable of the Oyster and the Litigants. The card reads, "Chacun des deux pelerins la desire avidement" (Each of the two pilgrims eagerly desires).

Card 3 from set of 6. The card depicts a scene from the fable of the Oyster and the Litigants. The card reads, "Une discussion s'engage a ce propos" (A discussion ensues about this).

Card 4 from set of 6. The card depicts a scene from the fable of the Oyster and the Litigants. The card reads, "Perrin Dandin survien pendant cet incident" (Perrin Dandin arrives[?] during this incident).

Card 6 from set of 6. A card depicting a scene from the fable of the Oyster and the Litigants. The card reads, "Apres ce repas, Perrin donne une ecaille a chacun" (After this meal, Perrin gives a scale to each).

I had not known of this set, perhaps because there is no reference to La Fontaine or fables on this picturesque set. There is reference to Perrin Dandin on the fourth card. The only text of the story is the one-line description at the bottom of each card front. The verso offers tributes to Liebig, recipes, and "Conseils a la Maitresse de Maison." There are also seemingly unrelated human figures in black and white, sometimes carrying a Liebig product. Now to find that sixth card, #5!
